EURO C20 AR flat plate collector – a high-tech

solar collector

One of Europe’s most efficient flat plate collector

The EURO C20 AR featuring Sunarc solar glass with anti reflection nano technology is one of Europe’s most efficient flat plate collectors. It is generously dimensioned with a 2.4 m² effective aperture area. It surpasses therewith many other competing standard-format collectors. Moreover, the gross area, which is relevant for most regional subsidies is 2.6 m². It can be installed in horizontal or vertical format and is applicable for on-roof, in-roof and for flat roof (free standing) mountings. Its top-grade performance and versatility make it one of the most sought after sun catchers in the market today.

The glass: Antireflection glass increases energy yield
The glass covers of the EURO HTF C20 collectors with their highly pure glass mixture allow much of the solar radiation to pass – 91%.
Now we have come yet another step further: a special surface treatment process increases the transmissivity to 96%! The EURO C-20 AR with its new Sunarc® anti-reflection glass brings up to 10% more power!

The Absorber: Highly selective for optimized solar yield
Highly selective absorber coatings trap solar heat optimally and minimize back scattering of the absorbed heat. In our new ultrasonic welding facility, we convert these high quality absorber sheets to surface absorbers. The continuous surface, as distinct from the strip absorbers, further reduces heat loss.

The encasing: all round insulation for minimized heat loss
The 60 mm thick thermal insulation on the back side and continuous frame insulation reduces heat losses and ensures high temperatures. In stagnation, Wagner & Co collectors achieve temperatures of up to 232 °C!

High technology solar collectors
The test report of the Solar Institue in Hameln delivers proof: the EURO C20 AR Solar Collector is Germany’s most efficient flat plate collector with a peak yield of 546 kWh/m per year (according to ITW standard 5m²) and hence also one of the most powerful collectors in Europe.

Flat plate absorber – robotic assembly

The flat plate absorber is the heart of our solar collectors. At Wagner & Co they are produced in a fully automated ultrasonic welding plant. The installation improves the absorber efficiency through fully automated and highly precise technology and at the same time increases production output. With the new ultrasonic welding plant, Wagner & Co further advances the market development for surface absorbers, and the company is equipped with a technological alternative to strip absorbers.

Single surface means more performance
The source material for the solar absorbers are copper sheets coated with highly selective blue absorption surface. This coating is produced in Germany in an environmentally sound vacuum coating process. The new selective vacuum coating plants in Germany by now can produce coils of up to 1.2 m width, so that new manufacturing techniques emerge. When using flat plate absorbers, no single sheet strips are hydraulically joined together anymore, but rather a single absorber sheet is used, that is connected en bloc with a tube register. The solar collector encasing is completely filled with large metal absorber sheets. As a result, heat loss is significantly reduced, and the air-tight single surface screens internal thermal convection. Comparing a strip absorber to a new surface absorber in an identical collector, a yield increase of about 8% at 485 kWh/m²/a is achieved.

Equipped with the ultrasonic welded surface absorber and the Anti-reflex glass, the new EURO C20 AR collector with a peak thermal yield of 546 kWh/m²/a is one of Europe’s most efficient flat plate collectors.
